Debussy’s La Mer skillfully captures the serene yet tumultuous interplay between wind and the ocean waves. Takemitsu’s A Flock Descends into the Pentagonal Garden blends traditional Japanese and contemporary Western musical traditions, resulting in a mesmerizing tapestry of scenes where the central motif gracefully descends into the harmonious ambiance of the ‘Pentagonal Garden.’ The program opens with Glinka’s stirring Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla, and we are honored to welcome back renowned pianist Stewart Goodyear to join us for Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
