Welcoming Argentinian-Italian conductor Michelle Di Russo, the DSO presents an exhilarating performance titled ¡Música Bravo!
In Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio Espagnol, we embark on a musical journey through a captivating array of Spanish folk melodies and variations, culminating in an energetic fandango. Joining us on stage is guitarist João Luiz, who will showcase his virtuosity in Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. This evocative composition draws inspiration from the splendid gardens of Palacio Real de Aranjuez in Spain, fusing traditional Spanish dance rhythms with the expressive techniques of flamenco guitar. Our program also includes a vibrant collection of works by Hispanic composers, paying tribute to Latin music styles. Experience the rhythmic allure of Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2; the spirited dances of Alberto Ginastera’s Estancia; and the enchanting Suite from El amor brujo by Manuel de Falla.
Concert run time: Approx. 90 minutes with one 20-minute intermission.
